The Battleship Missouri

The "Mighty Mo" was the last and most celebrated battleship ever built. It was aboard her decks that the documents ending WW II were signed, bringing a new era of friendship and cooperation in the Pacific. The USS Missouri Memorial Assn. is a private non-profit organization not supported by government funding and is dedicated to the restoration and exhibition of this truly American icon. This is highly recommended for everyone but particularly as an educational experience for children.

Battle Stations Tour - Battleship Missouri

Vendor: Battleship Missouri
Product: Battle Stations Tour
Description: "General Quarters, General Quarters, All Hands Man Your Battle Station." When this alarm was sounded on board the Mighty Mo, all hands stopped whatever they were doing and rushed to their battle stations while hatches were secured and the ship was prepared for action. This exciting new tour focuses on this most important aspect of life at sea for every officer and battleship sailor aboard. Your experienced guide will make it all come alive, from World War II in the Pacific with kamikaze attacks off Okinawa, through two frigid, arduous tours of duty during the Korean War and into the modern era of war in the Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. You will stand at the Captain's battle station on the bridge with its 17 inches of armor plating, peer into the massive 5 and 16-inch gun turrets and learn how they were manned, aimed, loaded and fired. View the missile decks, the flight deck and the modern Combat Engagement Center (CEC) where all weapons systems, including Tomahawk cruise missiles, CIWS Gatling guns and remotely powered vehicles (RPV) were monitored, controlled and tracked during Operation Desert Storm. This tour will inspire even the most experienced Navy personnel and excite all who participate, even those who have never before stepped foot on a battleship.

Battleship Missouri - The Battleship Missouri is likely the most famous battleship to have survived World War II. After all is was aboard her decks that the final documents were signed that officially put an end to that brutal war. After more than 50 years from that day the Missouri reminds us of the tremendous sacrifices our country and our men in uniform endured in order to maintain our precious freedom. But more than a reminder, this ship represents an accurate slice of an era. This is a moment in history frozen in time. The Battleship Missouri represented the highest and best technology of the time and it is interesting to see how much we have changed since that time. The tour is not the recreation of a period of history but it is history. This is a tour I would recommend old and young alike to take. It will make you both proud and sad but above all it will make you appreciate.

Customer Testimonial

Tom

My most sincere thanks to you and your organization. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip (last week) to Maui. The three packages we purchased through your representative (Billy) were superb! The snorkel trip was outstanding. The ride to Hana was the most informative and enjoyable time and topping it off with the dinner cruise on Friday ended a vacation the way it should be ended.

Again thank you and I WILL make all my future arrangements for any trips to Hawaii through you.

Roger R. Bales
