Can l ride a Maui Downhill Bike on my own or do l need to go with a tour company?

Tom Barefoot’s Tours offer several Vendors in the category. You can experience the freedom and independence of mountain biking at your own pace down the Haleakala dormant volcano. This tour starts at the 6,500′ entrance to the Haleakala National Park. Guests will gear up and start their self guided bike descent. Guest are able to stop, get on and off the road at their own pace and operate within their comfort zone. A van takes you from where you meet the Vendor, and will drive you to the park entrance where staging to prepare for the descent occurs near the visitor center. You will receive a map that includes instructions and rules of the road, as well as a phone number should you need to contact the Bike Company for any assistance.
