Table of Contents
Over the years various organizations, magazines and self appointed experts have taken on the task of determining the best beaches in the world. The criteria used is presumably different in each case but for what it’s worth, Kapalua Bay has appeared at the top of this list in many of these surveys, not just once, but for a number of times. There’s simply no way to suggest that the bay at Kapalua is simply not stellar in every way. It is a beautiful crescent shaped beach that is fairly well protected from the trade winds, at least until they really wrap around which will happen as a rule later in the day than earlier. It has a beautiful sand bottom which makes entering into the water an easy experience yet it has beautiful coral reefs to explore at the sides of the bay and further out along the center. Waves when they happen are generally in the winter months and of course caution should be advised when they are large. Summers usually provide a fairly flat surface which makes it an ideal place to swim.

Getting to Kapalua Bay early in the day is a good call
Kapalua Bay is a popular beach that is frequented not only by Kapalua visitors but truly from visitors from all over the island. It’s not the size of its “sister” beach at D.T. Fleming just to its north and it won’t be able to handle that large a grouping of people. The parking lot in front of Kapalua bay is adequate but certainly not large enough to handle enormous amounts of cars and so it serves as a safety valve to keep the visitors at Kapalua Bay at a reasonable amount. You’ll be best off to get a parking spot in the morning hours and the earlier the better. If not you’ll be forced to park your car in the queue on the beach road above.

The snorkeling is excellent at Kapalua Bay
Kapalua Bay is a great place to snorkel,High score at saga. to simply wade in the water or to lounge and work on your suntan. Many varieties of fish can be found in the reefs on either side of the bay and further out into the center. If you stay away from the sandy bottom spots the water clarity will be better.

Beach Amenities
Kapalua Bay has a variety of beach amenities that will make you stay there a pleasant one. It does have a parking lot just a short walk from its shores. There is a bathroom up by the parking lot and a public shower as well. There is also a large public shower adjacent to the beach itself. There are shaded areas for you to hang out in addition to areas directly in the sun. There are no lifeguards at Kapalua Beach.
