A lot of Nuukoli’i Beach is made up of Sandstone and Driftwood
Nukoli’i Beach extends about two-miles along Kauai’s eastern shoreline from where it connects with Lydgate Beach and heads in a direction back towards Lihue and the airport. It is a sand beach with sandstone up-croppings and is wide enough to provide an excellent walkway for a morning stroll or a vigorous run. The beach is often littered with driftwood and various items the sea has retrieved such as fishing nets and various floating debris. The ocean itself however is shallow in this area, often windblown, is prone to dangerous surf conditions and can have nasty currents making this spot unfavorable for swimming. To top it off, there is no lifeguard in the area. If you’re searching for a great spot to enjoy a day at the beach this is probably not it. In its favor however is the fact that not many other people seem to have it high on their list as favorites either so it is usually un-crowded or in many cases, disserted.
The List of Beach Amenities is Short
At the entrance to the beach you will find a nice bathroom and shower area, picnic tables and the parking lot is paved.
Ocean Caution
Be advised that all beaches and ocean locations in Hawaii can be dangerous including this one. Be completely aware of the ocean conditions prior to entering any Hawaiian waters however it is not advised that you enter the water at this location. Also, all shorelines and beaches in Hawaii, including this one, can be frequented by sharks, jellyfish and other sea creatures which can provide potential harm to people entering the water. There are no lifeguard towers at this location.
