Where to get into the water? It is normally the easiest to climb down the trail on either side of the beach and then paddle out from the small sandy area.
More Details About The Breaks
Coconuts: This is the break at the far outside of the bay. On a really good day youll see riders take off here and ride all the way through Keiki Bowls.
The Cave: This section is marked by a small cave that sufers who get caught inside can get thrown into. This part of the wave has one of the best barrel sections at Honolua Bay.
Keiki Bowls: This is the end section of the wave, the surfers that make it from the cave or coconuts will use it to get a few last turns in and often times youll see a few surfers lurking here picking off the inside waves.
Spectating Advice
The cliffs at Honolua Bay make for amazing views of the waves. If youre comfortable on the slippery trail you can even go down to the flat grassy area on above the cave for a better view. Also, on the opposite side of the bay is a paved parking lot on the side of the road that provides a great view of the surfers from more of a head on angle.
How do you get to Honolua Bay?
To get to Honolua Bay you drive on Honoapiilani Highway (30) past Kapalua. The road will narrow and you will begin to go around some curves. Within a minute or two youll be able to clearly see Honolua Bay ahead of you. As you get to the north edge of the bay youll see a dirt road (if the waves are breaking it will probably be lined with parked cars). This is normally one of the best places to spectate from.
