My family had a group of 13 and we were excited to go have a fun time with a sunset and dinner cruise. We weren’t aware that the whale watching and dinner part were about an 1/8 of the time on the boat. The food was mediocre and fairly cold and the crew was mostly nice. When it came to the “astronomy” portion of the cruise things took a turn for the worse. Not super peaceful stargazing, it was an astronomer talking about stars for a big portion. We were demanded to turn off our phones, and we were reprimanded if we didn’t. My brother was checking the time about 15 minutes after she told us to turn our phones off, and he was yelled at for doing so. It was NOT a kind reminder, he was downright scolded. As the night went on, my family and i were spending time together and chatting about all the things she was talking about, and we were “checked” for talking. If your family, like mine, cannot sit still for 2 full hours in the dark talking about astronomy i do not recommend. Overall, it was an okay experience but the disappointing part was the astronomy part. Very rude and unnecessary behavior. To add on, there was a “laser pointer” used to point out the stars, as there were planes passing by, not sure if that is legal. It was also not used appropriately as one of my friends got it shined right into her eyes. Please be mindful when booking this cruise .
We went on a boat tour in March and saw very distant black spots. In my opinion, that doesn’t count as whale watching... There’s probably a peak season when whales can actually be seen

Our crew consisted of Aaron and Connor who are very experienced in finding whales and explaining their behaviors during their time on Maui. We saw many whales and some dolphins which really made the trip special. Thank you Aaron and Connor for making our trip such a wonderful experience. We highly recommend.

The staff were all extremely friendly, and the crew members were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout!! We were very fortunate to see a number of whales!!
We booked our whale watch through Antie Snorkel. I highly recommend this company for whale watching. The staff is very knowledgeable, and a portion of the ticket price goes to education and preservation. We say 30+ whales, some close and some in the distance.

Excellent SCUBA trip on the Maui Diamond with Captain Ben and his crew. Be sure to read the waiver carefully and not “miss mark” a box about your medical condition, they have to uphold the highest safety standards and if there is any doubt, you cannot dive.
Everyone was so nice and helpful, it was my first time diving alone and it went so well. We got to see a lot of amazing creatures and landscapes.
I dove three times with the Maui Diamond crew and they were all great times. Our trip to Lanai yesterday was the best with great dive master Dave spotting the fish which were all around us and in the end we found ourselves in a dolphin pod with over 100 dolphins going by.
Amazing Crew, very helpful & patient with individual needs & special requests. Captain was very professional, hands on and safe. Communication was top notch. I used more air on first dive so they gave me a bigger tank for second dive. My son and I didn't reserve wet-suits and they were able to provide for us last minute. Plenty of snacks on-board and cooler full of water/sodas/guava/passionfruit drinks. We did Molokini Crater one day and Lanai Cathedrals the other. Saw everything we could wish for & more. Will recommend to others and be back in the future.
Amazing amazing amazing. Not enough great words for the crew! I did 2 days(4dives) with them and it was all really great. I said I was hoping to see my first Nudi branches and both of my dive masters made points to show me. I loved that! They had ample snacks and drinks. I think they forgot the sandwich cooler for lunch day 2, but we all survived on snacks. We had an amazing whale experience thanks to our fun, knowledgeable captain, Ben. On day 2 I had some bad personal non diving experiences upon return to the marina and the crew that day all offered to help every way they could think of. They helped me so so much and with so much kindness. Some even texted me later in the day or the following day to check on me. Everyone in this company is truely amazing but I want to make sure to call out each person individually that I remember and hopefully the boss sees this. I was on board 3/2/25 and 3/3/25 but I remember Don, David, Ben, Dave and Kim. There was also a woman on board 3/2 who mentioned being married to another crew member, she was great as well but I don't remember her name. My one and only complaint is how squished you are on the boat. It needs like 6 less ppl to be comfortable 24/7, but they do have multiple groups and after you get the first group off and diving the other 2 groups have plenty of room. So they have a good system to accomodate the amt of ppl.
I did 6 dives with Maui Diamond, Molokini front and back wall and LanaiAll excellently run. I’d absolutely go with them again

Did two, two tank dives with Maui Diamond in February 2025. 1st dives were at 1st Cathedral & Sergeant Major & Minor then the Molokini Crater and Ladders on another day. Awesome diving experience plus whale watching too! Both crews were great! Very professional, informative, safe, and fun! I tip my hat to Captains Luke & Steve and crew members Dave, David, Joe, Michelle, Beth, Nick, & Kim (thanks for the GoPro video of the whales under water!). Shadley was also very helpful with registering for the dives. Look forward to diving with Maui Diamond in 2026😊.
Nice staff, great dives. It was really worth it. 👍🏼Check your clothing before the dive. I swapped several things, but it was possible without any problems.

We had the best time snorkeling with Makena coast charters, specifically with our guides Joe & Lucia! It was my fiancé and I’s first time snorkeling and we were a little nervous upon first getting into the ocean. Joe and Lucia made sure we were 100% comfortable and coached us through navigating the waters. I loved that this was a smaller boat/group size. The trip was the perfect amount of time to explore and relax a little bit too (we did 3 hour tour). Safety was priority on the boat and Joe did such a great job educating everyone on safety protocols. This was our first time and we will definitely be back to book with this company specifically. We can’t thank Lucia and Joe enough!!

As most charters were headed out to Molokini first (as they all do), Jo stated that he thought the waters were actually going to be calmer a little later in the morning. I felt he did his research to make it the most pleasurable. With that said we went to Turtle Town first and had the place to ourselves until the kayak tours came swarming in. It was a more private experience. Afterwards we then headed out to Molokin and it was not crowded there either. Once finished there, we spotted some whales and watched them. We were so lucky and saw a whale breach 7-10 times. I would highly recommend them. It is a smaller group. Some boat tours had probably 100 people on their boat. This is not the case with Makena Coast Charters. It was a great experience and would go with a smaller company like them!! They provided Hawaiian juice, snacks, sandwiches and chips.

We had over a dozen whale sightings to AND from Molokini, including a baby who showed off for us with many great pic opportunities. Snorkeling was very cool, with calmer than normal seas and ample time to enjoy those views .... with no other sightseers crowding us (a great benefit to tours mid-morning). 200% recommend this charter business and especially the duo of Joe and Jess!

Captain Sam, Shelby, and Carl are a fun crew! The whales weren't as active as we hoped, but Captain Sam worked hard to find the few that we did see. He even took the time to observe and call in an orphaned whale calf. It warms my heart to witness how much this crew cares about whales!

We loved the boat and the crew. The sailing was amazing! Our boat was quick in light wind and the crew kept the cruise quick and comfortable as we kept an eye out for whales.
Nicolas and his crew provided a safe, fun, easy going experience. We cruised, snorkeled twice, ate light breakfast and full lunch with eager bar tenders when we all finished in the water. We were a party of six adults and the boat had lots of room for us and other guests. Apparently the captain is a Whale whisperer as every few minutes another close view of whales was provided.
We did the "Turtle Reef Breakfast Snorkel & Sail" with Sail Maui and it was PHENOMENAL! I would highly recommend!!! For breakfast they had fresh fruit and delicious breakfast sandwiches (Vegetarian options available when booking). They took us out to a great spot with lots of turtles. Only one other snorkel boat was there, unlike some spots where we saw 4 or 5 boats and tons of people. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. This was a GREAT EXPERIANCE and cost less then a lot of the other companies offering similar experiences.
My girlfriend and I booked a sunset sail out the Lahaina harbor. First off the crew Kevin and Justin were amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. It was a smooth ride and very relaxing. It was almost the end of our trip to Maui and was a great way to finish it off. We would recommend Sail Maui anytime. The boat Paragon was well maintained and in top shape. The views were amazing and is definitely worth going.
We went on a sunset cruise last night and it was by far the best excursion we have done in Maui yet. The boat was nice, staff was great and attentive. Our drinks were never empty. We saw whales and even a mother and baby. It was a beautiful night and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Highly recommend doing this at least once during your Maui trip!
PERFECT trip with Captain Chase & his phenomenal crew: Shannon, Jamie & (I think) Stephanie!!These guys all genuinely cared SO much about giving us the best time!Despite unfavorable conditions at their normal snorkeling spots, they found a perfect location for us to get in the water. Wife and I spotted loads of fish & coral - and even swam with a sea turtle! 🐢Even though this wasn’t a whale watching trip, the captain told us all to be on the lookout and went out of his way to give us the best views! One whale even came up to play with us (Up Close!) for several minutes!The food was better than expected & while I don’t drink, all the guests seemed to be into the drinks available at the open bar. (My wife said the wine was good & my Diet Coke was never empty!)If you want a crew that cares about you & your experience (Not just your money) — you want Sail Maui & Captain Chase!!!
