As you know, just about any sightseeing area on the island of Maui could be considered an attraction, such as the Iao Valley, Haleakala Crater or Hana. We narrow the definition of what we consider attractions here to mean essentially ‘man made’ attractions. If you were on Oahu for instance their attractions would be Sea Life Park, Pearl Harbor, Kualoa Ranch or the Polynesian Cultural Center. On Maui we really have only one ‘attraction’ that fits into this category, that being the Maui Ocean Center.

The Maui Ocean Center is great and you can easily spend the larger portion of the day there if you have a curiosity about the marine environment and all that it entails. There are amazing aquarium exhibits, outdoor encloses for various forms of sea life and information about the individual islands. The most dynamic of all the features they offer is a short but amazing 20 minute movie about Maui’s humpback whales that is actually presented in a dome just like a planetarium. I have never met anyone that has not been 100% impressed with this exhibit and it is great for adults and children alike. We will provide you with an inexpensive ticket that will allow you to spend as long as you would like at the facility and upon your arrival you can sign up for the time you would like to view the Whale Show. They are scheduled for every half hour.

The Maui Ocean Center is an inexpensive way you can spend a super ‘quality’ day with your family and it is particularly great if you have children. Also, this is a great alternative if it is a bad weather day and the typical snorkeling and other activities have been cancelled.
