Dinner shows on Oahu are one part Las Vegas, one part Hawaii and two parts entertaining. These shows are fun and much better, honestly, than I though they would be. All it took for me in the Magic of Polynesia show was to have John Hirokawa make a full blown helicopter disappear from right on the stage and I was hooked. I’ve long since given up on trying to figure out how magicians like John can do what they do so I just allow myself to fall into the ‘total zone of amazement’. The performance is just stunning.

And of course, what reputable city would even think to offer dinner shows without some musical entertainment. The Rock-a-Hula will ‘take you out’ plain and simple with the high powered performances of talented singers reproducing the songs and the appearance of stars like Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Stephen Tyler and Britney Spears. You will be totally overflowing with conviviality and good cheer as you find yourself singing the words of the performances you just heard as you walk out into the balmy Waikiki evening after the show.

Other than the luaus these shows are really the only type of activity you can participate in at night. You will likely be in Waikiki a series of nights so you might as well make the best of it.
